Have you ever wondered which Irish city buys and wears the most self tan between here and the UK?
The answer might surprise you if you thought it might be Dublin where there seems to be no end to tan in the shops.
And it’s not Limerick either, although we believe a lot of tan is sold to our Leeside pals in Cork.
But no, it’s any of our three biggest cities. So where is it then, who is buying all the tan?
Linda Stinson of Bellamianta Tan has some interesting stats on how we are using our self tan, from different parts of the country to when we like to apply it.
Interestingly, of the three biggest users of self-tan between ourselves and users in the UK two of the top three are Irish!
We must love the look of a healthy tan (we so do) because numbers one and three on the list are Belfast and Dublin. Position number two was Glasgow, so now we know.
Linda explains that here in Ireland there is a real North/Side divide when it comes to tan.
She says, “The further South someone is, the more likely they are to go for a light-to-medium hue. The further North we are the darker we like our tan. Northern counties would be dark, Southern counties like Cork would be medium and Dublin is a mix of both.”
And apparently we aren’t waiting until a Thursday night to apply our ‘tan for the weekend’, not anymore. Linda says Tuesday is now their biggest day for sales which is interesting. Where is everyone going on a Tuesday we don’t know about?
